TPT/ Holocaust Research Activity | Resistance Mini Unit | Interactive Notebooks

Product Description
Looking for a compelling mini unit to get your students exploring real-life stories of resistance during the Holocaust?
These lessons are a great supplement to your unit on Night by Elie Wiesel, Diary of Anne Frankor to your unit on World War II, the Holocaust, and Nazi Germany.
This mini unit will introduce your students to some of the ways that people resisted the oppression of the Nazis during World War II. By reading a poem, watching a short and inspiring Ted Talk, analyzing Elie Wiesel’s Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech, and researching different resistance movements of the time, students will begin to understand the different ways that people were able to come together to fight for their beliefs—and their lives.
When you teach your students about these examples of true heroism, you will:
  • encourage different learning styles with group work, close reading, and dynamic discussions
  • engage your classes in a critical thinking by using the ready-to-go discussion questions
  • fulfill common core requirements with fascinating, low-key activities
  • add context to your study of a novel with the research and informational texts
  • inspire your classes to become more aware of injustice in their own time
There are no lectures or power points here—students will do the work themselves, with guidance from their teacher. Rather than telling them what the novel means, you will be empowering your classes with the confidence and skills to tackle the texts on their own.
The texts are not included in the resource because of copyright.
